In 2009, Freedomation, a supplier to the “Department of Defense”, contemplated quoting a “Heirloom Chest” to the U.S. Army with the intention it be presented to the families of “Fallen Soldiers”. Frankly we were disappointed with the offering, considering its significance and the importance of the potential contents. We saw a need and set out to manufacture a chest designed to store a large amount of valuables, build as a custom piece of furniture, made here in the USA. This chest can be used to store your mementos or the mementos of loved ones. We further believe it fills a need beyond our Armed Forces, including the Men and Women of Police, Fire, Civic Organizations and Clubs. There is a selection of medallions, representing your branch of service, flanked by two American Eagles, all made from solid brass, recessed in the lid. Marketing research indicated that the majority of chests now being offered are through distributors. The consumers are actually buying a chest of half the value due to uncontrolled middleman mark-ups. We are the manufacturer, assuring our customers are receiving full value. This allows us to supply a much larger chest (59% bigger), custom built, at similar pricing. There is no comparison between Freedomation’s and the competitors unit. Every piece of wood has been custom designed and hand selected, no off the shelf moldings or painted composites here. It is manufactured by experienced craftsmen, not on a production line. The lid opens 95 degrees and has a full length mortised Piano Hinge (not hinges to a toy box). It also incorporates two adjustable, anti-slam brackets. Our lid is not the door to a kitchen cabinet, every corner is mitred and joined. The chest has a 3.5″ deep, lift out tray as well as four no-mar feet on the base. The hand finish requires 11 steps. Furthermore, we offer a selection of Hardwoods, Natural Oak, Oak with Chestnut Stain, Natural Cherry and Natural Walnut, to enhance your decor. It can be customized by selecting a number of available options. A model is also offered with a different Lid, suitable as a Blanket, Toy, or Hope Chest.
